Company Overview

Founded in 1871, Honda Denki specializes in the manufacture of alkaline storage batteries.
As a wholly owned subsidiary of The Furukawa Battery Co., Ltd., the sales and administrative divisions of Honda Denki are located in Tokyo, while its production division is located in Iwaki City and employs 30 people spanning a wide range of ages, including people in their 20s and 70s.
Our flagship product, pocket-type alkaline storage batteries, are designed for harsh operating conditions and offer an extended lifespan of 12 to 15 years. Honda Denki’s batteries are exported to numerous countries throughout the world, as well as to customers in Japan.
Our batteries are primarily used as a backup power source in factories and communications devices, or as an auxiliary power source on trains.

Company Strengths & Characteristics

At present, we are the only company in Japan manufacturing pocket-type alkaline storage batteries with an operating temperature range of -20°C to +40°C.
Honda Denki’s story began with the manufacture and sale of lighting equipment for railways, ships, and coal mines.
Honda Denki has a long history of supporting industry in Iwaki. For example, coal mine safety lamps, whose production began in 1933, were used in Iwaki’s coal mines.
We manufacture a wide range of storage batteries from smaller capacity 20 Ah batteries to higher capacity 1000 Ah batteries.
